Peppermint Essential Oil for Dharana

Posted by Hom Yoga on

For those who frequently practice yoga, you’d know that it goes beyond just physical exercise. Physical practice is just one of the eight limbs of yoga; equally as important is dharana, which represents sixth limb of yoga.

What is Dharana?

Dharana can be translated as “holding steady”, “single focus” or “concentration”. This is the ability to bring the mind to a single point of focus.

It is important and valuable to practice Dharana in our everyday lives, especially when we are constantly bombarded with noises, demands and distractions.

The power of Peppermint Essential Oil

Besides practicing yoga, the use of peppermint oil or peppermint oil infused products, like a peppermint scrub, can also help to improve concentration and focus. The sharp and energizing scent of peppermint can help to clear your mind, which will help you improve your yoga practice and reduce the distractions of everyday life.

Besides improving mental focus, peppermint oil also provides a suite of benefits, which makes it really handy to have around.

1) Relieves sores and aches – Great for relieving muscle aches after a long day of using your computer or after a strenuous workout

2) Natural energizer – A healthier alternative to caffeine and energy drinks, take a few whiffs of peppermint oil or take a refreshing shower with a peppermint shower scrub as a quick perk me up

3) Calms the skin – Cooling and refreshing, a peppermint oil infusion is excellent to cool, calm and soothe the skin where it’s inflamed

If aromatherapy is not your thing, give peppermint-infused products a shot to achieve a clear, sharp attentive mind while reaping the multitude of benefits that peppermint offers.
