Hom Yoga presents this intensive 50-hour immersion program, led by Shosita Chia. For both practitioners and teachers, this 50-hour intensive study will unlock the door to a deeper understanding of the Ashtanga yoga methodology. Expect to learn the full primary series, fundamental Vinyasa counting, the history of the lineage and philosophy of the practice during this immersion course.

ABOUT SITA CHIA
An anthropologist and photojournalist by training, Sita started the practice of yoga in 2000. She is a certified Ayurvedic alternative medicine practitioner, as well as a Sivananda-certified teacher who spent many years teaching Hatha Yoga in Kutir (an ashram in northern India), Singapore, Bali and Thailand. She is also a certified senior intermediate level 2 Iyengar teacher, and she practiced both Hatha and Iyengar for a long time before finding her love in the Ashtanga Yoga method.
Sita is grateful to yoga for turning her life around from her earlier years of illness and addiction. The practice purified and cleansed both her mind and body, and she feels blessed to have this opportunity to teach.
She has completed both the Ashtanga Primary and Intermediate series, and continues in-depth study of the practice at KPJAYI (K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute) with Sri R. Sharath Jois in Mysore, India. Her personal practice is in Ashtanga Mysore, in the lineage of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, but she is also well versed in other practices, including Yin, Restorative, Pranayama and Kriya, Yoga Therapy, Prenatal and the Hot Yoga System.
In her free time, Sita loves street photography, painting, detox and internal cleansing, as well as raw and vegan food. Whilst she believes the practice of asana is an extremely useful mind-body tool, the true benefits of yoga are gained when all facets of yoga are applied to daily life.
WHAT TO EXPECT
In this immersion, Sita will help you deepen your Ashtanga practice or inspire you to start one. She will be guiding you through the Ashtanga practice with both led and Mysore classes. In the classes led by Sita, you will find yourself flowing through the series of postures as you develop your strength and flexibility. Expect to experience hands-on personal adjustments on your alignment and breath.
Sita will also be sharing the theories and philosophies behind the Ashtanga practice rooted from the classical Patanjali Sutra teachings to the present day Vinyasa system. Coupled with the Mysore classes, participants will be able to develop their own daily Ashtanga practice, empowering them to continue their own practice.
Classes are structured to progress at each individual’s pace, according to the needs of each participant’s state of health and body. By the end of this immersion, all participants will learn the full primary series, gaining a clearer and deeper understanding of the method.
You don’t need to be a seasoned practitioner to join this intensive. All you need is simply your curiosity and desire to learn.
This training is open to all level of practitioners.
200-hour teachers can clock these hours as Continuing Education credits with Yoga Alliance, or count them towards a RYS-500 qualification. All additional 300 hours of training must be completed with Hom Yoga to be accredited RYS-500.
