Defy Gravity: The 90-min Flying Splits Playground with Jasen Tay, Aug 30
Orchard Central
Saturday, August 30, 2025
10am - 11.30am
Welcome to your arm balance playground–a space to move, explore, tumble (a little), and maybe even take flight. In this 90-minute special, we break down the dynamic flying splits (eka pada koundinyasana II) with curiosity and a sense of adventure.
We’ll kick things off with wrist wake-ups and core ignition to build a sturdy foundation. Then it’s time to roll, stretch, twist, and groove through drills that open your hips, activate your hamstrings, and unlock spinal rotation. Expect playful transitions and mini-flows that challenge coordination, balance, and breath.
No matter where you're at–whether you're just learning to lift off or you’ve flown before–this practice is designed to meet you where you are. Props, wall support, and progressive options will keep the space safe and exploratory. Come ready to wobble, laugh, and surprise yourself.
Leave the mat feeling strong, supported, and a little more weightless.

ABOUT JASEN TAY
Jasen’s yoga journey has been a path of discovery, resilience, and joy. From the fast-paced world of banking to the mindful depths of yoga, each stage of his life has been enriched by this practice. Yoga has been his anchor through transitions—offering not just physical benefits, but a space for reflection, growth, and the courage to embrace change.
Jasen completed his 200-hour yoga teacher training with Dr. Venky’s Shivshakti Yoga Institute on October 15, 2015. He has since deepened his practice with specialized training in Meridian Yin and Wall Rope Yoga. His curiosity for movement and healing has led him to explore the intricate connection between body and mind. Grateful for the teachers and experiences that have shaped his path, he is passionate about sharing these insights with others.
Jasen’s teaching style is rooted in awareness, adaptability, and connection. He believes in meeting students where they are—honoring their unique journeys while encouraging them to challenge themselves with patience and self-compassion. Whether in a deep, introspective yin session or an alignment-focused practice, he holds space for his students to move, breathe, and be present.
"Allow yourself to know that what is supposed to be for you will come to you, and if it wasn’t meant to come to you, it won’t. You are good enough."
