Anchoring Your Core: A Lunar New Year Special with CJ Goh, Feb 15

Lunar New Year Inspiration - Year of the Horse
As we approach the Lunar New Year, and especially if you are celebrating the Year of the Horse, let the spirit of the horse inspire your practice. Horses symbolise strength, vitality, freedom, and forward movement. In this class, we will channel these qualities by focusing on core activation, breathing and grounding, helping you feel powerful and ready to gallop into new beginnings.

Why Anchor Your Core?

Strength and Endurance:
Just as a horse relies on its core for speed and stamina, we will build endurance and inner strength through sustained core engagement and dynamic flows. A strong, engaged core helps you maintain balance in standing and seated postures. It protects your spine and improves your posture, making everyday movements safer and more efficient.

Freedom and Movement:
Horses are known for their graceful, fluid movement. By anchoring your core, you will find greater freedom and ease in your transitions, embodying the horse’s spirit of movement and agility. Focusing on your core during practice encourages a sense of grounding. By drawing awareness inward, you become more present and connected to your breath and body, which is especially valuable during times of transition or stress.

Setting Intentions:
The Lunar New Year is a time for renewal. As you move through your practice, reflect on what you wish to carry forward - strength, resilience, and the courage to pursue new opportunities, just as the horse charges ahead with confidence.

As you move into the Lunar New Year, let the energy and symbolism of the horse support you in feeling strong, stable, and ready to embrace new adventures.

ABOUT CJ GOH

CJ's journey with yoga began as a young child, accompanying her mother to community centre classes. Initially viewing it as nothing more than a stretch session, her perspective shifted dramatically during her college years when she delved deeper into the practice, discovering its profound impact on both body and mind. Since graduating from her teacher training with Blair Hughes, CJ has been on a mission to share the transformative power of yoga with others.

Her personal preference? A dynamic flow class that allows her to find a steady rhythm of breath and fluidity of movement. It's where she feels most connected to herself. And perhaps the most remarkable aspect of her journey is the way in which yoga has prepared her for motherhood. Through years of dedicated practice, she has cultivated strength, resilience, and a profound sense of presence–qualities that have not only enriched her life but have also empowered her to welcome her daughter into the world.

With a genuine heart to share, CJ welcomes practitioners of all levels to embark on a journey of self-discovery through the practice of showing up on the mat.
