Yin to Restore: A Special Year-End Class with Angeline Chia & JY Ooi, Dec 20

River Valley
Saturday, December 20, 2025
1pm to 2:30pm

In this 90-minute special session, you’re invited into a sanctuary of stillness - a pause amidst the year-end rush to reconnect, soften, and restore. Guided by JY, the class flows from Yin Yoga to Restorative Yoga - two complementary floor-based practices that nourish the fascia, calm the nervous system, and create space within.

As you move through stillness and surrender, Angeline will weave a live soundscape of singing bowls, crystal bowls, ocean drums, and Koshi chimes - supporting your surrender into a deep state of resonance and rest. The vibrations invite not only relaxation, but healing and inner integration.

Designed as a gentle close to the year, this practice supports nervous system reset, energetic clearing, and quiet reflection.

Sample programme:

  • Opening & Grounding Meditation – guided mindfulness meditation & breathwork
  • Yin Yoga for Release & Flow – long-held postures to release fascia and rebalance energy
  • Restorative Yoga for Deep Rest – fully-supported poses with props to invite ease, softness and nervous system down-regulation
  • Sound Journey throughout – rich sound vibrations resonating in the space throughout the practice
  • Closing Integration – gentle return and space to transition

You are welcome to bring any comfort items that support your rest – such as an eye pillow, shawl, light blanket, or your own bolster – to deepen your experience of stillness and ease.

ABOUT ANGELINE CHIA

Angeline’s yoga journey began in 2012 in her bedroom following classes on YouTube. Her love for yoga is best described as a long-term relationship, where you've been through various seasons of life, practicing moderately and allowing it to take root in a sustainable way. She has benefited the most from the introspective and self-study part of the practice which continues to enrich her life off the mat.

She believes each practice begins with an intention, so that it becomes clear what type of energy we need, to find balance on that particular day. From there, we take mindful options and steer ourselves towards practicing in a way that will serve and support us, even in a group class setting. While there is room for creative and dynamic exploration during classes on energetic days, Angeline also seeks to nurture and offer guidance for those looking for a more grounded practice. Angeline is naturally inclined towards healing modalities and have undertaken trainings in reiki, sound therapy and honing her intuition.

She is currently seeking to deepen her practice and offerings in Restorative Yoga, where she focuses more on creating a safe space for the nervous system to down-regulate and release long held tension.

ABOUT JY OOI

JY started practising yoga in 2014 and teaching yoga in 2017. He believes that a yoga practice can be the basis for self-actualisation and personal development, and that it should ideally be less performative and more internal.

Trained and certified in a variety of yoga styles, JY has found that the practices of yin yoga and meditation have most informed his personal practice and outlook on teaching. He has in recent years delved into associated domains such as mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), Vipassana meditation and trauma-informed yoga. He is transitioning to teaching with a greater emphasis on healing, therapeutic and meditative elements.

JY encourages practitioners to observe sensations, thoughts and their breath with a view to realising the impermanence thereof. The equanimity and insight that comes from realising no situation lasts forever is a window to deeper self-awareness and connection. He consciously aims to teach from a grounded space, offering supportive and encouraging classes that facilitate the connection of body and mind through the breath.
