Yoga Journey: A Yin Nidra Evening Special Class with Jasen Tay, Jun 13

Orchard Central
Friday, June 13, 2025
7.45pm - 9.15pm

This Yin Nidra practice invites you into a deep state of stillness and conscious rest through the blend of yin yoga and the ancient practice of Yoga Nidra.

We will begin with a 60-minute yin sequence, featuring long-held yin poses that target the deep fascia of the body and create space in the physical and energetic layers. These poses gently stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system—the body's natural rest and digest mode.

The session then transitions into a 30-minute guided Yoga Nidra, a meditative state of relaxed awareness often described as "yogic sleep." Practised lying down in savasana and fully supported by props, this deeply restful practice helps calm the fluctuations of the mind, release stored tension, and promote mental and physical rejuvenation. You are encouraged to bring your eye pillow or mask to enhance the Yoga Nidra experience. A drop of lavender essential oil will be offered during the session to support relaxation.

This special class offers a unique opportunity to retreat inward, reconnect with your breath, and rest in the present moment. In doing so, we explore the essence of pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses) and shanti (inner peace)—the subtle art of doing less to feel more.

Suitable for all levels of practitioners, including beginners.

ABOUT JASEN TAY

Jasen’s yoga journey has been a path of discovery, resilience, and joy. From the fast-paced world of banking to the mindful depths of yoga, each stage of his life has been enriched by this practice. Yoga has been his anchor through transitions—offering not just physical benefits, but a space for reflection, growth, and the courage to embrace change.

Jasen completed his 200-hour yoga teacher training with Dr. Venky’s Shivshakti Yoga Institute on October 15, 2015. He has since deepened his practice with specialized training in Meridian Yin and Wall Rope Yoga. His curiosity for movement and healing has led him to explore the intricate connection between body and mind. Grateful for the teachers and experiences that have shaped his path, he is passionate about sharing these insights with others.

Jasen’s teaching style is rooted in awareness, adaptability, and connection. He believes in meeting students where they are—honoring their unique journeys while encouraging them to challenge themselves with patience and self-compassion. Whether in a deep, introspective yin session or an alignment-focused practice, he holds space for his students to move, breathe, and be present.

"Allow yourself to know that what is supposed to be for you will come to you, and if it wasn’t meant to come to you, it won’t. You are good enough."
